Headache facts

Nearly everyone gets a headache at some time in their lives. Headaches are extremely common, and headaches happen at all ages and stages of life - even children get headaches.

So, almost anyone would agree that when a headache strikes, your first priority becomes "How do I make this headache stop as quickly as possible?" But not so fast! Getting the right pain relief from a headache really depends upon what kind of headache you have.

If you experience the quite common tension headache, you may just be stressed-out or tired. Cluster headaches, on the other hand, happen in … well, clusters… and stress isn't a trigger.

Sinus headaches, ice-pick headaches, and the headaches that come along as a symptom of a hangover are the other pains that may interrupt your day now and then. Migraine headaches are their own beast, flattening the strongest of us with excruciating pain, nausea and, sometimes, wild visualizations.

Though there are some quick, easy ways to make a headache stop without taking any medication, you should know when a headache can be a sign of a more serious problem.
